Assist in organizing, directing, and communicating fund-raising efforts to build CSSA legislative funds (war chest) needed to support legislative efforts.

As an association, we have two special Charities - Kure It Cancer Research that funds research program focusing on rare, deadly childhood brain cancer; and Charity Storage - a program where every self storage facility can collect abandoned and donated items to raise funds for a charity of their choice. In 1998, Barry Hoeven, founder of Westport Properties and US Storage Centers, was diagnosed with kidney cancer. As Barry battled this disease, he recognized the lack of funding for research to cure kidney cancer and many other underfunded cancers.

read more › The California Self Storage Association (CSSA) understands that sometimes our members are unable to attend events they have per-registered for due to circumstances beyond their control. The below policy has been made to ensure that all of our prospective attendees are treated equally and is the CSSA's official approach to attendee cancellations for all of our events. CSSA reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If the CSSA cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund.

SACRAMENTO - Governor Gavin Newsom today proclaimed a state of emergency for Plumas County due to the Dixie Fire and Fly Fire, Butte and Lassen counties due to the Dixie Fire, and Alpine County due to the Tamarack Fire. The fires collectively have destroyed homes, caused the evacuation of residents and damaged critical infrastructure, with the Dixie Fire alone having burned 142,940 acres. California previously secured Fire Management Assistance Grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to support the state's response to the Dixie Fire and Lava Fire and Governor Newsom has issued an emergency proclamation for counties impacted by the Lava Fire and the Beckwourth Complex Fire.

read more › In 2016, Governor Jerry Brown signed SB 3 (Leno) to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour statewide by 2022 for large businesses, and by 2023 for small businesses. SB 3 (Leno, 2016) also included a provision allowing the Governor to postpone a wage increase in the event of an economic downturn. However, this past July, Newsom announced that he will not delay the upcoming 2021 minimum wage increase. Not allowing this increase to go forward will only make life harder for those Californians who have already borne a disproportionate share of the economic hardship caused by this pandemic.
